Raw and minimalistic pottery by Wu Wei Cheng

It took me some time to get in touch with Wu Wei Cheng, a Taiwanees potter I discovered some time ago on Instagram but today I love to show his work. I fell in love with the raw minimalistic appearance of his tea pots and cups. Being a self-taught potter Wu took about ten years to grow from a beginner to an experienced practitioner with a distinctive style.

His pottery looks almost made with brut force and every piece has a prominent carve on them. He is into architecture and interior design and might be even more a sculptor then a traditional potter. When he works on his pots and cups he doesn't follow 'the rules', while most Taiwanese potters focus on the actual purpose of tea drinking, Wu wants to be more creative and create beautiful sculptures with his tea utensils.
